
This young girl went through a period of denial, refusing insulin injections, all food, very unhappy, and with low self-esteem. Following several peer-to-peer sessions, she returned to her Form 4 studies in which she was excelling. During her second National Examination Council Tanzania (NECTA) examination, she fell ill with low blood sugar in the exam room and fainted. They will be an effective means of Identification and offers immediate help to the young person with T1DM who is in a critical, emergency situation and needs immediate assistance.
Tanzania Telecommunication Corporation Limited (TTCL) has issued a free mobile emergency phone number to be engraved on the tag.
Advertising and marketing of the bracelets will significantly boost awareness and understanding in the society on the existence of T1DM in children and youth and hence eliminate ignorance, wrong beliefs, and notions about T1DM.
