WHAT / WE DO

Our objectives

The develop and propagate educational and training methods designed to provide all members with type 1 diabetes mellitus a better understanding of the condition and to assist them to control the condition better.

To facilitate the collaboration between members and the Health Care Providers.

To support type 1 diabetic members who are financially in need.

To encourage research relative to improving treatment methods for members and diagnosis of type 1 diabetes mellitus by all qualified persons and institutions.

To seek opportunities and advance its objectives in national and international forums under such terms and conditions as the Alliance may deem fit.

What we have achieved?

Current activities

A playground for type 1 diabetes children has been setup at Muhimbili Diabetes Clinic in collaboration with the Leos from Lions club.

On 29th Nov 2020, a diabetes walkathon planned in collaboration with the Lions club will take place at MUHAS playground, intended to raise funds for medical alert bracelets for all youth and children living with type 1 diabetes in Tanzania.

Training of more youth peer to peer counsellors

Plans for 2024 – 2025

To raise funds so as to obtain National health insurance for members.

To train more youth leaders to track the lost to follow up and conduct peer to peer counselling at each type 1 diabetes clinic in Tanzania.

To install data collection & management devices (tablets) at each clinic and thus establish a reliable and up to date database of youth living with type 1 diabetes at every clinic.

To establish type 1 diabetes youth counselling centres at each diabetes clinic.

To conduct regular zonal/regional type 1 diabetes youth camps and training.

To publish and distribute type 1 diabetes educational materials for members and the public.

To provide type 1 diabetes education to schools, families and religious gatherings.

To raise awareness on type 1 diabetes through advocacy and education via media platforms.

To establish a reliable and up to date database of youth living with type 1 diabetes at every clinic.
